Ending the call
End the Call on Your Terms.End a call in an IVR flow with a Hangup step, after a message or for blocked callers.
Some paths should simply finish: after a closed-for-the-holiday message, once a caller has heard everything they needed, or when a blocked number reaches the flow. The Hangup step ends the call at exactly that point, so no branch is left with nowhere to go.
- Clean end after a message
- Drop blocked callers
- No loose branches
How a call moves through it
- A call comes inOn a public holiday
- Closed for the holidayThe flow checks the date
- A message playsWhen you’re back, and how to reach you
- The call endsRight after the message
A Clear Ending for Every Path.
End the call once the caller has heard everything they need, like a holiday notice.
Hang up on a caller who matched one of your blocked number filters.
Every branch must lead somewhere before you can publish. Hangup closes a path cleanly.
The Node That Ends the Call.
The IVR hangup step: one node, used wherever a path has nothing left to do.
Hangup
Ends the call.
Use it for: A clean ending after a message, or dropping a blocked caller.

Your Questions, Answered.
How do I end a call in an IVR call flow?
Add a Hangup step where the path should finish. It ends the call at that point.
When should a call flow hang up?
After a final message, such as a holiday notice, or to drop a caller who matched one of your blocked number filters.
Does every path need an ending?
Every branch has to lead somewhere before you can publish, because unconnected branches block a publish. Hangup is the plain way to end a path that has nothing left to do.
Can I play a message before hanging up?
Yes. Put a Playback Audio step before the Hangup, with a recording or text spoken in your saved brand voice.
Are call flows included in my plan?
Yes. Call flows, IVR and routing come with every seat. A few steps use paid services: DNC and litigator checks are billed per lookup from your prepaid wallet. The pricing page has current prices.
Can I test a call flow before it goes live?
Yes. Press test call and a simulated caller walks the flow in front of you, lighting each step and taking the branch it would really take. Then publish it to a number.
