What Is an Auto Dialer, and How Does It Work?
An auto dialer is software that calls the numbers on your list for you and connects a rep only when a real person picks up. Reps stop typing numbers, waiting through rings and listening to voicemail, and spend the day in actual conversations.
Adoptiv’s auto dialer software has three modes. In predictive mode it works as predictive dialer software: it calls several numbers for each free rep and paces itself from your live answer rate. Progressive autodial, a progressive dialer, rings the next number the moment a rep wraps up. Preview dialing opens the record first, for calls that need homework. You pick the mode per campaign.
When a machine answers, voicemail detection releases the line or leaves your recorded message. Before anything is dialed, every number is checked against the federal Do Not Call list, known litigators and your own lists (compliance screening), and abandoned calls stay under the limit you set, 3% by default.

Power dialer vs predictive dialer: what is the difference?
A power dialer opens a set number of lines for each free rep. A predictive dialer changes that number through the shift, from how many reps are free and how often the list answers. Adoptiv’s pacing starts at 1.5 lines per free rep and adjusts up to 5.
Which dialing mode should I use?
Predictive for large lists and several reps, progressive autodial for steady one-at-a-time calling, and preview when reps need to read up before each call. You can set a different mode on every campaign.
Is auto dialing legal?
Auto dialers are widely used in the US, but the rules on consent, calling hours, Do Not Call lists and abandoned calls apply to every campaign. Adoptiv gives you the controls: DNC and litigator checks, the calling-hour rules for every state, and an abandoned-call limit. How many calls can a rep make with an auto dialer?
It depends on your list and how often it answers. The dialer keeps up to five lines going for each free rep, so reps move from one live conversation to the next instead of dialing.
