Adoptiv

Adoptiv vs RingCentral: two different jobs that look alike.

One gives every desk in the building a phone number. The other runs the team that lives on the phone. Plenty of companies genuinely need both.

Comparison · 7 min read · Updated 11 August 2026

RingCentral is a business phone system. It gives the whole company numbers, extensions, meetings and messaging, and it does that job broadly and well.

Adoptiv is not trying to be the phone on every desk. It is the system for the team where calling is the work, and it carries the customer record for that team rather than handing it to another product.

The difference in one line

RingCentral is telephony for everybody. Adoptiv is a calling operation for the people who do it all day.

That is why the comparison so often ends with both, not either. The finance team and the warehouse do not need queues, dispositions and a dialer. The twelve people on the phones need very little of what a company phone system is for.

RingCentral does sell a contact center product alongside the phone system. If you are being quoted that, the comparison to make is against it rather than against the phone plans.

When RingCentral is the better choice

When the requirement is really company telephony: everyone needs a number, people need meetings and chat, and there are offices to connect.

Also when the calling team is small enough that a queue and click to dial is genuinely all it needs. Buying a calling platform for four people who make a dozen calls a day is buying depth you will not use.

When Adoptiv is the better choice

When the calling team is the business rather than a department inside it.

  • The floor needs dialing modes that change as it grows, not one mode
  • Somebody asks every week what happened on a call, and the answer should not be a search in two systems
  • The customer record and the call history should be the same thing
  • Compliance screening has to run before a call is placed rather than be reported afterward

Running both, which is common

Nothing stops you keeping a company phone system for the building and putting the calling team on Adoptiv. Numbers can be split by which team owns them, and the two do not need to talk to each other for either to work.

If you go that way, decide early which system owns the customer record. Both trying to is where the mess comes from.

Common questions

Yes, and plenty do. Keep the company phone system for the building, put the calling team here, and split the numbers by which team owns them. Decide up front which system owns the customer record.
