Adoptiv vs Pipedrive: is the deal the unit of work, or the call?
Pipedrive is one of the clearest sales CRMs there is. The question is whether your day is moving deals along or getting through a list.

Pipedrive is built around a pipeline you can see at a glance, and it is very good at that. Calling is available, in the way calling is available in a CRM.
Adoptiv is built around the call. The pipeline exists, but the thing the product is designed to be good at is getting a person on the phone and writing it down for you.
The difference in one line
In Pipedrive the deal is the unit of work. In Adoptiv the call is.
If your reps work twenty open deals carefully, the deal is the right unit. If they work three hundred records a day, it is not.
Where the two shapes diverge
| Pipedrive | Adoptiv | |
|---|---|---|
| Unit of work | The deal | The call |
| Typical volume | Tens of open deals | Hundreds of dials a day |
| Dialling | Click to dial | One at a time through predictive |
| Calls coming in | Not really its job | Queues, hours and routing |
| Logging a call | The rep writes it | It writes itself |
When Pipedrive is the better choice
When the sale is considered and the pipeline is the thing you manage. Fewer, larger deals, each with a story, is exactly what it is shaped for, and it is lighter and cheaper than what we do.
If the phone is a step inside the sale rather than the sale itself, adding a dialing platform is solving a problem you do not have.
When Adoptiv is the better choice
When the list is long and the day is measured in conversations rather than deals.
- Dialing by hand has become somebody's morning
- Nobody writes up calls properly and everyone has stopped pretending
- People also answer inbound and it currently goes to a mobile
- You want to know how many calls it takes to get one conversation
The question worth asking either vendor
Ask how many calls a rep makes in an hour on each system, and what happens to the notes afterward. Those two numbers decide this, not the feature list.
If the day is a list rather than a pipeline, this is what changes about it.
What we will not overstate
Pipedrive is simpler, and for a small team working considered deals that simplicity is the feature. We are more product than such a team needs.
Common questions
Yes, with stages, deals and forecasting. It is not the thing the product is organized around, which is the real difference between the two.
